TheGorondorf's News

At last, the Stairs trilogy comes to an end. It was... A pain, but I've learned some valuable things in the process of making them, like wanting to put them on every single game I make to torture people and let them see how hard and painful it is to put basic things from the real world into code DUE TO THE FACT THAT COMPUTER LOGIC AND PROGRAMMING ARE THE DEVIL'S WORK DESIGNED TO STRAY US FURTHER AWAY FROM THE PATH OF RIGHTEOUSNESS AND MORALITY WITH SEDUCTIVE BOOLEANS AND LUSTFUL EVENTS.

Oh and I added the life system too yay :D (sorry about the size, gifs are a pain when it comes to compression while using the original NES screen resolution for the game because I am an insane, insane man)

Back again!

Don't worry, I won't keep writing posts about every single tiny thing I do in Baldomero's Ballad (unless y'all want to, I don't mind at all). Just wanted to showcase a small mockup about how the game's main aesthetic will be like. Hope you are looking forward to this as much as I am making it, haven't been this excited about making a game since Punch the Stool John!

P.S.: If you are interested in supporting me aside from the usual "hey there's a bearded bald man who makes stuff" shoutout, you can donate to my Ko-Fi or ask for a commission. And I'm still open to collabs with anyone willing to do so, feel free to hit me up via PM if you want something squared and animated.

Sooooo PLOMO made it to the Front Page and it has been played by a nice bunch of folks, which is something I really didn't expect at all! Thanks a lot for that, I honestly didn't even think the game was even going to be liked that much due to how short it is.

In other news, Baldomero's Ballad's development is going strong, stairs are going swell and well and all the main mechanics are almost done. After that, it will be enemies and then level design. Stay tuned for more updates and, again, thanks a lot!

This took too long to make, but now that it's done I don't have to destroy my head with it anymore.

Next stop: attacking on stairs. FUN.

Small update on mechanics, this took me 2 DAYS TO FIGURE IT OUT. But hey, now it's working as intended, so I'm very happy about it (and no, don't even ask if I can make it so you can jump off and on stairs unless you are eager to buy me a new apartment).

I'm following some tips from this wonderful tutorial that I found and it's quite useful (even though I ended up trying my own thing halfway through since I didn't enjoy how convoluted some events can get while watching it). Anyway, back to adding things!

Hi y'all!

Once again, thanks a lot for playing Plomo. I saw barely nobody got the secret ending, so if you want to give it a try make sure to just be patient around the first guy.

I'm writing this just to say that I'm starting to work in a new game, Baldomero's Ballad. It will be a Classicvania inspired 2D platformer, so no metroidvania elements or the likes. And yes, it will have stairs. Chairs too. Anyway, here's Baldomero in the flesh, you'll see some level design hopefully soon:

Since this will be a bigger project I don't know how long it will take me to finish it, but I want to put all my skills and knowledge to the test with this one. Hope you are looking forward to it!

P.S: I'm open to do collabs too, so hit me up if you are working on something that needs some squares in motion!

Hi everyone!

First things first: thanks a lot for giving PLOMO a chance! If you enjoyed it make sure to spread the word (and the game link) around so more people can try it out too! Now to other things you might be interested in:

-GB Studio is a damn nightmare to figure out for my monkey brain, so my plans regarding the actual GB version of Punch the Stool John are right now going at a snail's pace.

-My next project is going to be made again on Construct 2, this time having and working with the GBA screen resolution (and colors!). The title will be Baldomero's Ballad, and it will be in the style of Castlevania II: Belmont's Revenge. Hope you are looking forward to it!

-Since I'm unemployed, I'm going to start selling tilesets and assets on my itch page. If you are interested in something in particular you can also send me a private message to arrange a commission.

That's all, thanks again!

Happy to say that PLOMO is out RIGHT NOW! Make sure to give it a try and see if you can get that pesky secret ending. And of course, comments are always welcome, so come on, tip your hat brim and click that link!

You read the title already, nothing else to say: PLOMO is finished! I need to let some friends play it first just to see if I need to tweak something but yeah, game's done and ready to be published. After some thought I'm not going to add Medals since honestly I really don't see a point to adding achievements to something as short as this thing I made. Don't worry though, next game will be tougher and longer.

I'm very, VERY happy to announce that PLOMO is near its final development stages! This started (and still is) a small thing I made to remove the cobwebs from my system when it comes to making games. I don't expect it to be anything else than that, and I had a fun time trying out mechanics and features that I'll feature in upcoming projects. Hell, might probably go and finally releasing hiatus projects if I feel like it, why not.

Oh, and I'm moving to GB Studio for a bit for one simple reason: I can play my games as ROMs. And there's one particular game very close to me I'd like to play on my Retroid Pocket 2S...

I think it's time to get back to punching.
